Obituary of Megan Marie Day
Megan M. Day, 35, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Megan’s 7-year fight with cancer was inspiring to all. Her ability to enjoy life, love her kids and husband, and provide for her family all while dealing with her medical challenges demonstrated her will and courage in this hard fought battle.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday October 14, 2023 from 1 to 4 P.M. at the Henderson-Baker Funeral Home in West Branch with a time of sharing to be held at 3:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Megan Day Memorial Fund.
Megan Marie Hafner Iles was born May 9, 1988, in Kettering, Ohio the daughter of Dwight and Carolyn (Hafner) Iles. She was a graduate of Iowa City West High School in 2006 and later the University of Iowa. On July 26, 2009 Megan was united in marriage to Lawrence Day at Old Brick in Iowa City. Megan had been employed with Goodwill of the Heartland for many years. She had been active in the Adolescent and Young Adult (AYA) Cancer program through the University of Iowa. Megan grew up traveling and continued to enjoy traveling with her family as well as being a busy parent with three children. Her greatest joy in life was her husband and children. She loved going to their sporting events and activities. She loved building memories with her family and friends.
Megan would want the Nurses and staff at 3JCP UIHC to know how much she and her family appreciated the exceptionally loving and devoted care they provided her on her many admittances.
She is lovingly survived by her husband Larry of West Branch, three children: Rowen, Rhys and Ryah. Parents: Dwight and Carolyn Iles of West Branch, sister: Brittany (Nathan) Simons of Johnston, Iowa. She was preceded in death by Grandparents: Clifford and Audrey (Haub) Iles, Byron and Mary (Utter) Hafner, uncle: Larry Hafner.
