Obituary of Dick Neipert
Richard “Dick” Neipert, 80, passed away suddenly Sunday, July 30, 2023.
Burial with military honors will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty. A memorial visitation / celebration of life will immediately follow the graveside service beginning at 11 A.M. at the West Liberty Community Center, 1204 North Calhoun St., West Liberty where a lunch will be provided.
Richard was born November 19, 1942 in Muscatine, Iowa the son of Arthur and Helen (Martin) Neipert. Dick proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a graduate of L&M High School in the class of 1962. On March 5, 1966 he was united in marriage to the former Connie McVay. Dick had been employed with GPC in Muscatine for 38 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a member of Mansell L. Phillips American Legion Post #509 in West Liberty and enjoyed farming. In his younger years he enjoyed riding horses. He attended “church” daily with his friends at Casey’s for coffee.
He is survived by his wife Connie of West Liberty, two children: John and Lynn (Lance) Longstreth of Fruitland, two grandchildren: Taylor Longstreth and her fiancé Dan Smith and his two children Kailey and Austin of Tampico, Illinois and Rochelle Longstreth and her fiancé Connor Delamore of Durant. One brother: Clifford (Betsey Sue) Neipert of Conesville as well as Brothers in Law: Harold Freese, Robert A. Smith and Terry McVay as well as a bonus daughter Penni Hewett of Leon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Nancy Smith and Janet Freese.
