Scott Dudley Butler, 66, was born in Moline, Illinois, on December 20, 1956 to Ronald and Delores  Butler. He died on January 5, 2023 at his home in Gunter, Texas with his wife by his side. He is survived  by his wife, Sheila, and four children from a previous marriage: April (David), Austin, Zachary, and  Shaylee (Max). He is also survived by his mother, Delores Butler, his brother, Emmett and wife Barbara  Butler, and three sisters, DeeAnn Linquist (Bill), Dawn and (Michael) Buchart, and Darlene Hellerich, and  many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his sister-in-law: Yolanda Butler, two stepsons: Chad  and (Vanessa) Taylor and grandchildren Jadeyn and Brock; and Cory and (Christie) Taylor, grandchildren Clay, Kinlee, and Karlee Mae. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Butler, and his youngest  brother, Brian Butler.

Scott, fondly known as “Fuzzy,” grew up in West Liberty, Iowa, and graduated from West Liberty High  School. While in school, Scott not only excelled academically, but also in music, drama, and student  government. He was an honor student, active in band and vocal music programs. He excelled in sports,  playing football, basketball, track, golf, and wrestling. He took great pride in being a West Liberty  Comet. Scott went on from High School to University of Northern Iowa and enjoyed campus life. He  joined the PKA fraternity and served as President for a time. He was active in the Greek Society for many years.

Shortly after graduating from UNI, Scott began his 30-year career with Allstate. Later in life he enjoyed  substitute teaching and working for Tenet Healthcare as a contract administrator.

Scott lived life to the fullest and shared his enthusiasm with everyone. He loved to bake and often  showed his love by sharing his bread and cookies. His passion for music and cooking will live on through his children.

Scott met his soul mate, Sheila, almost 8 years ago. Shortly thereafter he was diagnosed with throat  cancer. Together they fought his cancer, sharing their joys and sorrows, ups and downs, and faced the  fear of the unknown with courage, kindness, caring, and unconditional love for one another. Scott  maintained a strong faith throughout his life, including his battle with cancer. We are comforted in  knowing he is with his Heavenly Father.
