Obituary of Donald "Donnie" Allen Rife

West Liberty, Iowa

Donald “Donnie” Rife, 70, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023 at the Lone Tree Care Center.

A memorial visitation celebrating the life of Donnie will be held 5 to 8 P.M. Friday, February 10, 2023 at the West Liberty Community Center.

Private family services will burial will be held in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, West Liberty.

Donald Allen Rife was born March 20, 1952 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Donald James and Margie (Smith) Rife. He was a 1970 graduate of Wilton High School. On May 8, 1971 he was united in marriage to Phyllis Ruess. Donnie had farmed and operated a maintainer on secondary roads in Muscatine County until his retirement. He later worked as a crop adjuster. He enjoyed working with his kids showing livestock at county fairs and was able to continue that with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed attending all his children and grandchildren’s school, sporting and other activities.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis of West Liberty, three daughters: Missy Carter of Nichols, Jenn Rife (Michael Bear) of Lone Tree and Stacey (Eric) Alvarez of West Branch, four grandchildren: Logan Carter, Gage Rife, Jasper Alvarez and Brantley Alvarez. Two sisters: Cindy (Kevin) Trca and Angie (Lindsay) Hinrichs all of Swisher. He is also survived by a sister in law: Karen (Mike) Parizek of Lone tree as well as many nieces and nephews. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother in Law: Kenny and Bessie Ruess, brother and sister in law: Ken and Elaine Behrens.
