I am so sorry to hear of Suzanne’s passing. I just saw her picture in the memorial section of the quad city Dispatch. We met many years ago when Leonard worked with my husband, John, at IH in East Moline. We were adopting children at the same time, so we had much to share. John died a few months before Leonard and Suzanne & I had talked several months ago about the “old days” and the challenges we were facing-she was a great listener and always had an encouraging attitude. May her gentle spirit live on with all of her loved ones- especially Rebecca and family.

Suzie was at the U of Illinois when I was, and she was selected to be the second violinist when we organized a string quartet. We began as a group that met one evening per week to read as many quartets as we could. It developed such a good group that we decided to give a performance. We performed the Ravel and Beethoven, Op. 132, quartets -- two very major works -- on a concert on campus, and as a result we were invited by the orchestra director, Bernard Goodman, to play side tours when the orchestra did a full semester tour of Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Columbia, Venezuela, Brasil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, and Peru in 1964. She was not only a superb violinist, but a very dear friend. We have kept in touch over the many years since that trip, although the distance between us has made getting together in person virtually impossible. Perhaps the most exciting side trip we made was traveling to Merida, Maricaibo, and Coro, in Venezuela, and we met with considerable success. I will miss the email exchanges with her, and with her passing I have lost a very dear friend. My sincerest condolences to her remaining family. William Skidmore, Professor Emeritus of Music, West Virginia University

Visiting Suzanne was an invitation to “go deep.” I so enjoyed exploring ideas together! Regrettably, our lengthy discussions were limited by distance but I treasure those visits. Topics spanned many areas but I was always touched by Suzzane’s presence. Her focus to listen was a blessing. Her care was a blessed gift. Grateful for her kindred spirit.❤️ Blessings to the family as you work through transitions to life beyond Suzanne’s physical presence,

Suzi was wonderful. Loads of spirit, intellect, and caring with a quiet way. I will miss her greatly.
