I love the things that Taylor taught me, especially about other people. She allowed me to see the best in the people that cared for her and loved her. I would be out on my porch and see Taylor coming down the street with one of her caregivers. They would stop and adjust blankets, bend close and talk in her ear, make sure the sun was not in her eyes. I saw love there. I would come down from the porch and grab her and bend close and say "hello". She made me feel good about myself.
I saw love when Kevin would cradle her in his arms to move her from one place to another, I saw love when Deb would explain to me Taylor's moods and attribute it to being a "teenager". And I saw love in the friends that would bring thoughtful gifts to Taylor that would spark her sense of touch, and smell. All these things made me see my life through a different lens, the lens of human kindness. Thank you Taylor for your gift to me.
